How To Create An Email Campaign
How to Create an Individual Email Campaign
In addition to automated emails, ListSend lets you manually create and send one-off campaigns directly from the Campaigns page. This is useful for company updates, announcements, or any email that isn't tied to your automations.
Step 1: Open the Campaign Builder
Navigate to the Campaigns section in your account. You'll see a list of your past campaigns here. In the top right corner, click Create Campaign to open the email builder.
The builder is the same one used elsewhere in the platform. Learn more about the builder here.
Step 2: Build Your Email
Use the builder to design your email. A few things to know about campaigns specifically:
- Single event blocks and eventless blocks won't auto-populate from your account -- you'll need to manually select the events you want to feature. You can add multiple event blocks to show different events in the same email.
- You can also create emails that have nothing to do with events, such as company updates or general announcements.
Step 3: Schedule or Send
When you're ready, click the Schedule button in the top right of the builder.
This opens a panel with two sections:
Audience
Choose who receives this campaign:
-
All active subscribers (default) -- sends to everyone currently subscribed. The recipient count is shown in real time as you configure your settings.
Subscribers with specific tags -- start typing a tag name to search your existing tags. You can add multiple tags and then choose one of the following match rules:
- Must have all selected tags -- a subscriber must match every tag you've added (default when multiple tags are selected)
- Can have any of the selected tags -- a subscriber only needs to match one of the tags you've added
When to Send
- Send immediately -- click Send Now and the campaign will begin processing and send within a few minutes.
- Schedule for later -- select a date, time, and time zone, then click Schedule. The campaign will be queued and sent at the specified time.
Step 4: Managing Draft Campaigns
If you're not ready to send, you can save your campaign as a draft and return to it any time. From your Campaigns dashboard, draft campaigns will appear in your campaign list. For each draft, you have three options:
- Edit -- reopen the builder to continue working on the campaign
- Send -- immediately bring up the option to send the campaign right now
- Duplicate -- create a copy of the campaign with all the same settings, so you can quickly spin up a new campaign based on an existing one
